My Story
Ever since I was a little puppy, I have loved to participate in my mom’s speech therapy sessions doing animal assisted therapy. Sometimes I just sit beside my friends to give them moral support if they are feeling anxious. If a child has listened well during an activity or session, I am their reward. I can be the inspiration for a writing assignment or a conversation, and I have even helped a child with selective mutism to start talking. I also teach children how to take care of an animal by letting them feed me, get me water, take me for a walk, brush me as well as teach children how to give gentle hugs. I especially love tummy rubs from new friends!
Over the years, I have accompanied my mom into a variety of schools around the United States, where together we teach children how to treat animals. I have even helped teachers use me in their lessons to assist students to learn the alphabet or about various holidays. Students have been so excited to have me visit them in their classroom that for one lesson they wanted to make Lola-shaped bread. We have also visited adult day programs for veterans back in Canada, where my mom and I started our story together.
Like my mom, my love for helping people is huge and I love my role in being able to make people feel good and happy!
